Weddings And Rapture

Mark DeWitte and I make up Two Guys Wedding & Event Photography. We decided to get together a couple of years ago and shoot weddings based on the idea that two cameras could offer twice as much coverage of a wedding. So far we have been really pleased with what we have been able to do. A couple of weeks ago, we had the opportunity to shoot a wedding in Maryville, Tn. The couple, James and Rachel, were planning to get dressed at the Capitol Theater, go to a nearby park for the ceremony, and return to the Capitol for the reception. This gave us a unique setting for the reception shots and we took advantage of the opportunity. In the basement, there was a room the Capitol called “ The Man Cave”. It was decorated with a pool table, bar, poker table and other great props. We eventually took the bride and groom and some of the wedding party down for some photos. Here’s a couple of photos that show how we were blessed with the opportunity to be a part of this wedding. I f you are interested in seeing more of these, check out  my photo site here.

How about that Rapture?

Now that it appears that the date was wrong, how much did you start thinking about the rapture? If nothing else, the group predicting this made people start talking about the next big event in human history. Of course, they made a major mistake in trying to predict the date, but other than that, it’s good to get people talking. I know that lots of people don’t want to believe that this will happen, but that is their choice. It works just like salvation, you don’t have to believe in Jesus or his return, but I highly recommend it. Another thing that this non-event has done is to demonstrate just how bad things can go when we put our faith in the wrong things. Reading some of the news reports it seems that some of Harold Camping’s followers gave and spent all they had spreading the message of the end of time happening Saturday. Then when it became apparent that it didn’t happen, they were speechless. They had believed with all their hearts that this would happen, yet it didn’t. All the belief in the world will not change the truth. In today’s society, there is an even more dangerous idea around that says truth is what we perceive and that what I believe to be true is not necessarily what anyone else has to believe. We each discover our own truths as we go through life. But, then something like this happens and we are reminded that no matter how much you believe something, it doesn’t change the truth. God has laid out the future of this world and the truth is there in God’s word, if we only believe. Jesus is coming back, He promised this in John 14:3 when He said “And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.” So that is settled, Jesus is coming back. I just need to watch and wait, not predict when. And you have to be ready, Are you?

16For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

17Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

18Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

1 Thessalonians 4:16-18
