My 2012 Thanksgiving List

I’ve been watching for a while as some folks have been posting what they are thankful for each day on Facebook. I started to jump in but to be honest, I don’t get on Facebook that often. I have it on my phone and could easily do it, but I just don’t do it. So I thought I would do a list of all the things that I am thankful for here.  And I do reserve the right to add to, delete from, change or otherwise completely remove this list at any time. After all, it’s my list.  So here goes……..

  • At the top of my  list is my relationship with Jesus Christ. If not for Him, I would be most miserable. I know because in my foolishness I tried to live life without Him. I was miserable.
  • I’m thankful for the faithfulness of Jesus Christ. As stated above, I haven’t always been faithful, but HE has.
  • I’m thankful for my wife who puts up with me when she don’t have to. She’s also a Godly woman and those are hard to come by.
  • I’m thankful for my daughter and son. They have been a blessing and at times stretched my limits, but they still manage to be a bright spot in my life.
  • I’m thankful for my grandchildren. Somehow they add back things that I hadn’t realized were gone.
  • I”m thankful for the dogs. They can teach you a lot about love and admiration. And patience when they dig another hole up next to the house.
  • I’m thankful for the 36.5 years I spent on the job at TRW. Not that I liked it that much, but thankful I was able to work and provide for my family. Now I’m thankful that I can enjoy semi-retirement and a new job.
  • I’m thankful for all of life’s challenges. While they aren’t fun, I usually came out of them better.
  • I’m thankful for the love of photography that God made into me. And for the opportunity to use that desire and skill at church in the TV minsitry.
  • I’m thankful for Higher Ground Baptist Church. And for my Sunday School class. They’ve both been good to me and for me.
  • I’m thankful for Nikon. Can’t express how much I’ve enjoyed their cameras over the years. And the lenses. I’m also thankful for all the other cameras out there. They’ve been good enough to make Nikon work to stay the best. 🙂
  • I’m thankful for all the smiles that have been given to me over the years.
  • I’m thankful for motorcycles. No particular brand, all of them are fun to ride.
  • I’m thankful for the ability to laugh at myself. Keeps me out of trouble and humble at the same time.
  • I’m thankful for hot buttered biscuits and strawberries. Same goes for peanut butter and syrup. Some things are really that simple.
  • I’m thankful for friends, even those who are no longer friends any more. I learned something from all of them.
  • I’m thankful that God made me so that I (according to my wife) can carry on a conversation with a sign post. That ability makes selling pre-owned cars tons easier.
  • I’m thankful for technology which allows me to share this with you.
  • I’m thankful for this country. Even when I don’t like it, it’s still the best in the world.
  • I’m thankful for the Tennessee Vols, the Washington Redskins, and the cowboys opponents. They all have made football fun to watch. Not all the time mind you, but most of the time.
  • I’m thankful that the lightening only hit close to me as I was filling up the water balloons at the faucet in the carport. And that I can see despite being thrown into the windshield of dad’s old 57 Chevy. Both events when I was around 8-9 years old.
  • AND I’m thankful that this list is not complete and it would take forever for me to list all the things. Who knows, I may add some more later.

H A P P Y    T H A N K S G I V I N G!

  1. Really Sweet Dad, I’m thankful for the dad I was blessed with, and the sense of humor I inherited from him, along with the logic thinking. It only gets me into trouble sometimes.
