Suddenly I find myself in the year 2015 and it’s Thanksgiving weekend. It seems that Thanksgiving weekend is the special time of the year when I get time to look at this page and make updates. The rest of the year I am either too busy or too tired. So far this holiday season, I have done some work on HGBC web site, updated several things on my computer, and even got some photo editing done. None of those things take a lot of time but all of those things take some time. What happens to our time? Where does it all go and why does it leave? Questions that I will undoubtedly ponder next year at Thanksgiving.
Speaking of where does the time go, check this out. Here’s a pic of Charli Jane that I took when she was just beginning to sit up on her own. In fact, this pic was taken during the Thanksgiving weekend that year. The leaves are already gone and the grass is slightly brown. This is proof that if it wasn’t for the holidays, I wouldn’t get anything done.
Here’s a couple of shots I took about two weeks ago. She was playing in the garage area of the flooring store. She loves to draw with chalk and she was so proud of her new drawing. Looking at that drawing, she may be a future Picasso and be famous for her work. One thing for sure, she’s growing up and that leaves me and her Nana wondering where the time went. We used to state her age in days, then weeks, then we used months and now she’s proudly stating her age in years. She put on her coat a few days ago and zipped it up all by herself. Then she walked out the door telling me how she was a big girl and all grown up. We are so blessed to have her in our live’s and to be able to invest into her life.
It seems like it was only yesterday since I was a young person myself. I remember being one of those people who knew everything. I had life figured out and could handle anything that happened. Then life started happening and the more that life happened, the more I became aware of how small, weak and vulnerable I really was. But during my life I also learned how big, powerful, faithful, dependable and awesome that God is. He has walked with me at times, walked for me at times and then during the hardest times, He has carried me. The latest account of what God has done for me can be read here, and from an earthly perspective, it’s probably the biggest also. Of all the things that I have learned through this life, I am most thankful for what I have learned about God. That is what really sustains me.
Sooner or later we all look up and wonder where the time went. We look back at our life and we want to see good things that we have done, lives that we touched and monuments that we have built to mark our time here on earth. But what about out knowledge of God. I see people struggling with some real problems and they are big, but God is bigger. If we could only learn to trust His grace, His provision, and His guidance. Life would still be full of trouble, but we would have a way of managing the trouble.
But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen. 2 Peter 3:18
I am so thankful for all that God has done for me, especially thankful that through it all, I have grown in the grace and knowledge of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Have a good day and may God bless you richly.
