Interesting question. I was poking around wordpress.com and found WordPress university. Signed up and here I am. First assignment was to write about me and why I am here. So here goes.
I’m just now reaching retirement age although I “retired” seven years ago. I left a factory job that was taking it’s toll on me as we seemed to work 7 days a week no matter how many parts we sold. Something about earned hours that for 36 and half years never made sense. Anyway, since “retirement” I have worked a little for a friend who owned a computer repair business, have worked more for another friend that is in the used car business and just for fun, the used car friend and myself, (during a time of total lack of common sense or any other resemblance of knowledge) became partners in a flooring business. Not the best of decisions but on the other hand it’s kept me busy and off the streets.
I’ve also been involved in web site building and maintenance as I currently take care of the web site where I attend church and another church that I help out with their website. I don’t mean to imply that I build the sites from scratch. Far from that. But both churches use a web based site provider and I manage the sites for them. But it’s interesting to me how all the web stuff works. I guess that’s one reason I do the blog thing. It’s interesting and keeps me busy just trying new things and learning new ways to do something. It also goes along with my love of photography. I can get lost in photography and love to look at other photos and to share mine. It’s not so much to show what I can do, but to show how I see the world around me.
The third thing that comes to mind is that this is an excellent place to share my Christian beliefs and what God has done for me. Like last year when I became sick and almost left this word. After recovering, I added this page to the blog and shared the story of what God had done for me in the hopes that it would help and/or encourage someone else who may have been or is now going through a rough time. I think it’s a way to share my belief and just sort of lay it out there, not shoving it down someone’s throat or trying to make them believe like I do, but just sharing what God means to me and what He has done for me.
As the old saying goes, this is a description of who I am “in a nutshell” and why I am here. Of course, the nutshell fits because my wife and friends both agree that I qualify for nut status most of the time. I think the main reason I am doing this university thing is to learn a new way to look at my blog and new disciplines in using the blog. I hope it works and I hope you enjoy my world. Have a great day!
